Local Author: Angie Smibert
Angie Smibert is the author of the Ghost of ordinary Objects Trilogy. The series for middle readers and young adults, started with Bone's Gift, about an Appalachian girl coming to terms with her supernatural gift at the start of World War II.
Kirkus Reviews called Bone's Gift "an intriguing blend of history and magic." The story continued in the second book, Lingering Echos, when Bone must use her wits and her gift not only to uncover the truth but to make sure her best freind Will isn’t sucked away by long-forgotten memories. The Truce, the final book in her Ghost of Ordinary Objects trilogy, on June 27. In The Truce, 12-year-old Bone Phillips must unearth her family's deepest secrets to find her favorite, missing uncle.
Smibert also is the author of the Memento Nora series and numerous nonfiction books for children, and many short stories for both adults and teens. She grew up in Blacksburg, where her mother's family once worked in the long-closed coal mines along the New River, the setting for the Ordinary Objects series.
