On the Beat: Local Journalism and Democracy

Presented by the Virginia Center for the Book -- Regional journalists and authors Monica Hesse (The Washington Post) and Beth Macy (The Roanoke Times) join Pulitzer Prize recipient Eric Eyre (Charleston Gazette-Mail) in a discussion of issues impacting rural communities — including the opioids crisis and economic decline —and the vital role of local journalism. Panel discussion moderated by Dr. Reginald Shareef (Radford University) with Q&A. Book sales and signings will follow.
