The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of The Bahamas owes its inception to Philip Arthur Rahming. At the time of composition, in February 1970, he was a student at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky. This pledge came out of the thought, tone, and beat of his entry, "God Bless Our Sunny Clime" - which was judged first runner-up to the National Anthem, "March On Bahamaland".
