A year of planning and two month of chaos led up to the opening at 16 West Market Street in downtown Roanoke in October 2017. Initial reaction to the announcement of an independent bookstore coming to town was been phenomenal. News went mini-viral among the reading and literary community in the Roanoke and New River valleys. More than 400 area residents shared their favorite authors and reading topics in our survey so that BNF can ensure the store reflects the interests of the community. In summer 2018, the store added online sales, including audio and ebooks.
